Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in AI Trust and Security (Criminology)

About the Role:
We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer (Full Time, Permanent) as part of a new interdisciplinary research team working in the broad field of AI Trust and Security to build on our existing strengths in Digital Trust, Security and Society. These posts form part of a new £4.73m University investment in AI Trust and Security and will be accompanied by a suite of Research Associates and PhD students.
We are particularly interested in candidates who bring expertise at the intersection of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and criminology. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and forward-thinking research cluster in the Centre for Digital Trust and Society and be required to contribute cutting-edge research that addresses the trust and security challenges of AI systems, with particular emphasis on issues such trust and mis/dis-trust of AI technologies, the role of AI in the organisation of, and response to, criminal behaviours, and the regulation and governance of related issues.
Applicants should possess a strong track record of research excellence (or potential for excellence) in one or more relevant areas, such as trust in AI-related decision-making, AI-enabled crime, or the governance of intelligent systems.
Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration, especially between computer science and criminology, or the social sciences more generally, is highly desirable. The role will involve contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervising research students, and developing externally funded research projects. We welcome candidates who are committed to inclusive and socially responsible research that bridges technical innovation with criminological insight.
