What you’ll do at ZPM

As a Software Engineer at ZPM, you’ll be a key member of our engineering team, driving innovation by combining software development, automation, and seamless hardware integration. This role calls for strong technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Your key responsibilities will include

• Develop full-stack solutions to control robotics systems platforms, perform data analysis, and refine protocols for tight cointegration of software with physical hardware.

• Build tools to process and visualise wafer test data at scale, enabling actionable insights across silicon photonics and MEMS teams.

• Build frameworks to handle large simulation datasets, applying advanced statistical analysis and machine learning where relevant.

• Automate chip design processes, including layout optimisation, error detection, and version control.

• Lead the design of trace/debug methods and automated testing flows.

• Ensure robust, error-free workflows that the full team can confidently use.

• Collaborate across hardware, software, and mechanical teams to achieve cutting-edge system performance.

• Be capable to prototype key design concepts on a day to quantify technical constraints and bring insight into the processes.

• Deliver highly reliable, scalable software solutions to be used across the ZPM team members.

• Engage deeply with users’ challenges to create efficient, tailored solutions.

What you’ll bring to the role

• A passion for innovation and a proven track record of hard problem-solving.

• Clear, effective communication skills to share and distil complex technical ideas.

• Strong programming skills in C#, .NET, Python, C/C++, with deep expertise in Python for data analysis and scripting.

• Proven experience in developing rich, user-friendly GUI applications using .NET (C#), WPF, and XAML, with a strong emphasis on clean architecture and maintainable code.

• Solid understanding of UI/UX design principles and ability to translate requirements into intuitive, responsive, and visually appealing interfaces.

• Mastery of modern tooling - Visual studio, Git, Jypyter notebook, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.

• Hands-on knowledge of database systems, statistical analysis, and data visualisation tools.

• Experience handling large datasets, ensuring data quality, and extracting insights.

• A strong ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, translating technical concepts across disciplines.

• Demonstrated strengths in delivering results in a small, agile team environment.

• Experience with HDL code and embedded systems is an advantage, especially for bridging chip-level design with system-level software solutions.
